Our school vision;

That everyone has a right to use the internet safely, and know that it is a positive resource to be used with care.

Our ICT subject leader is CEOP trained to oversee and ensure that our school vision is fulfilled. All staff will support your child with this through our school developed policy and scheme of work.

Smartie Picture

“A message came up on my computer at home and it asked for my details. I knew what to do. I remembered to tell an adult, like ‘Smartie the Penguin’ because it gave me an uncomfortable feeling. Mummy sorted it out for me.” – Thomas.

Our Year 2 children along with parents/carers, learnt about ‘Smartie the Penguin’ in our e-Safety reading café.

What is e-Safety and why does it matter?

All children have access to the World Wide Web through a variety of devices at school, at home, or anywhere there is Internet Access.

E-safety forms a part of the Computing Curriculum.   At Nelson Infant School we value the use of technology to support and enhance the children’s learning, amongst its many other benefits.   Our school computer system is designed to protect your child or children from many of these risks by blocking their access to unsuitable websites.  We want all of Nelson Infant pupil’s to use technology confidently but also to feel comfortable enough to deal with any issues that may arise.   We believe that the best thing to do is to teach children how to keep themselves safe online.

As a school we have developed a set of E-safety rules to encourage the children to use the internet safely.   We also encourage parents/carers to familiarise themselves and enforce these rules at home too.       They are available to view on the link below:

Things you can do at home to keep your child or children e-Safe are listed in the Parent/Carer e-Safety booklet available in the school office.
