Maths

In the spring term we will be following our White Rose scheme for learning and working through different concepts which we be incorporated in our topic, such as statistics and data, geometrical shape but also starting to use more complex calculations including multiplication and division, exploring how to show groups in a total and equal sharing.

We follow the Read, Write, Inc programme. Children work in groups appropriate to their level for phonics and reading sessions. In our Hooked on Books sessions we explore fiction and non-fiction texts using the lenses from reading rainbow. This half term our key texts include Clean Up, Lost and Found, The Street Beneath My Feet.

Communicating our ideas in sentences. Joining sentences using conjunctions. Applying phonics and spelling. Sequencing sentences to tell stories. Writing for purpose including recounts such as diaries and letters.

This term we will be looking at the strand of power and identity where the children will be exploring targets through creative and imaginative ways of learning, with focus to getting attention and having needs met in an acceptable way and being ourselves with our friends and others.

Sports factory session once per week- children develop individual skills and work as a team in fun sporting challenges. During remote learning – children have PE session assigned on Sports factory session once per week.

Our theme this term is Natural Disasters – we will be exploring the cause and impact of natural disasters - including hurricanes, volcanoes. Skills: Reading maps, globes, atlases, using digital/computer mapping to locate countries and describe features. Measure and record physical features using a range of methods including sketch maps, plans and graphs, and digital technologies. Understanding:  describe how natural disasters happen including impact, how to reduce the impact and the recovery.
