I really love my job at Nelson. I am immensely proud of our children and all the amazing staff who approach every day with enthusiasm. I am passionate about the Thrive Approach and recently became a Licensed Thrive Trainer. Outside school, I am mum to Ella and Pearl, partner to Toby, daughter to Denise and Kev, a big sister to Rosa, owner of Teddy the cat and Franklin the dog! I love dancing in the kitchen with my girls, working on macramé projects and hanging out with family and friends. Being outside when it is warm makes me and my family really happy, we also love swimming in the river, bike rides and watching movies. I believe in being honest with children, and that time, relationship and connection are the most important elements of being a parent and teacher.

Hi! My name is Lara and I am the Deputy Headteacher, DSL and EYFS Lead at Nelson Infant School. I have been a teacher for 15 years (teaching classes from Y7-Reception) and, after joining the Reception team at my previous school 5 years ago, I quickly realised how fantastic teaching children in Early Years really is. Since then, I haven’t looked back! I am passionate about supporting children to become independent learners and instil a life-long love of learning.

I am a mum of 3 grown-up children and a Special Guardian to my wonderful niece. I also have two mischievous cats who always cause much delight at home. I love relaxing with a good book in front of the fire and going to music venues to watch live bands – the noisier the better!
