- General15 March 2024School timings - consultationDear families, In line with DfE guidance of school learning hours, Nelson Infant School will be extending the school day by 30 minutes. The changes have been preposed and are now open to consultation. If approved, from Monday 15th April, the school timings will change to: Gates & classroom doors open: 8.20am Registration: 8.30am Day finishes: 3.00pm As always, if you have any concerns or queries about the changes to the school day timings, please feel free to contact us. - Sports11 March 2024Norfolk HoopstarsDear families, Please find attached details of Norfolk Hoopstars, a local basketball club in Norfolk dedicated to promoting inclusivity and increasing basketball participation. During the upcoming Easter Holiday, they have Norwich basketball holiday camp from the 2nd of April to the 12th of April for Year 1-6, Year 7-13, and SEND students. As they have partnered up with Active Norfolk, they are thrilled to offer Free Spaces to children eligible for means-tested free school meals through the Big Holiday Fun initiative. Do you have any individual socks that could be donated to Year 1's for their sock puppet unit of work - they can be ankle length or long and ideally cat colours - black, white, ginger, cream, peachy, leopard, tiger etc! Individual or pairs are fine 🙂 We would also be very appreciative of donations of scraps of material or felt. Please bring any sock, material or felt donations to the school office by Friday this week. Thank you

Great effort by Sycamore class too, just short of target with 95.6% CHERRY CLASS - 98.4% Sycamore Class - 95.6% Beech class - 94.2% Silver Birch class - 89.5% Hazel class- 87.3% Rowan class - 84.5%
- Medical7 March 2024Is my child too ill for school? - Guidance updateDear families, As mentioned on March's Newsletter, there has been an attendance campaign launched across the county to help increase school attendance in Norfolk. In collaboration with this campaign, we have revised our school guidance to absences due to illness - electronic copy attached and paper copy will be sent out today too. Further details can be found on the NHS website https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/ or if you are still unsure, please speak to a member of staff in the school office. We also have a close relationship with the Mental Health Support Team who have great knowledge and can offer advice, alongside the wealth of information on the Just One Norfolk website https://www.justonenorfolk.nhs.uk/ where parents can make self-referrals for their children for some services.

- Reminder4 March 2024World Book Day!Dear families, Just a reminder it is World Book Day this Thursday (7th March). All children are invited to come to school dressed as a book character. As always, we DO NOT expect or wish for families to purchase brand new costumes for this event, we love to see your home made creations. Reception classes also have their Family Learning Phonics session from 9.05am on Thursday too. Year 1 and 2 classes' Family Learning Phonics sessions are tomorrow (Tuesday 5th March) We hope to see you then.

Equally great performance with 97.8% is Cherry class! BEECH CLASS - 98.4% Cherry class - 97.8% Silver Birch class - 94.3% Hazel class - 92.8% Rowan Class - 92.6% Sycamore Class - 92.2% As always if your would like any advice or support with your child's attendance, please speak to Carly and/or Anna.
